TikTok, a realtively new social media platform, has already accumulated over 1 billion monthly active users (as of 1/22). The newest – brightest star is already threatening the likes of Instagram and Facebook. It also shows no signs of slowing its growth.

TikTok has revealed that its posts garner the best engagement rate of all social media platforms – 18% compared to 2.7% on Instagram’s comparable Reels. A lot of TikTok’s edge comes from the fact that it makes everyday people the stars of the show versus Facebook and Instagram snuggling up to celebrities. Since anyone’s post can go viral in an instant on TikTok, everyone can be an influencer.
